Tarka dhal

Dhal
- Prepare dhal in a kitchen cooker
- 1 spoon of oil (or ghí)
- 1 cup of washed mixed lentils
- 2 finely chopped tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Wait for 3-4 whistles
Tarka
- oil and ghí (or butter)
- 2 finely chopped onions
- Wait for onion to brown
- 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds (black or yellow)
- 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
- 2+ green chillies coarsely chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic coarsely chopped
- Wait until everything properly cooked
- Finish with
- 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon of hing (or asafoetida)
- 1 teaspoon of chilli powder
- 2 teaspoon of salt
- 3 cups of water
Rice
- Rinse 3 times
- Cook in rice:water 2:3 max.
- Add frozen peas
